Southern Hospitality...

Yesterday I went to lunch at Ruby Tuesday with Heather. She is married to one of the guys Jake is in training with. It was a lot of fun to get out of the house with Soph and have some adult conversation! While we were there, a women came over to Sophie and said what a joy she was to watch and that she was so "full of smiles." This made my heart melt because I feel the same, but it was nice to hear from a total stranger! The people down here are so sweet. I don't think we have gone anywhere that someone hasn't stopped to talk to Sophie. Gotta love southern hospitality:)

The Nursery...

While the living space is in mayhem I have decided to begin a new undertaking...Sophie's nursery. I went over the weekend to Michaels to get wood block letters for her wall. I painted them pink with brown polka dots to match her comforter. It was so much fun! I guess I get my love for crafts from my Mama:)

What a mess!

We have now been residents of Louisiana for almost 4 weeks. As most of you know, the movers did not get here until last week. I thought I would show you what we have been up to for the last week or so. Unpacking...unpacking...and did I mention unpacking! We only have a couple of closets here so Jake rented a storage unit not far from here. Thank goodness! So we have mostly been going through our stuff and pitching some and saving most! Here are some pictures of the before, after, and present. We are getting there! The order the pictures are in is from before our stuff arrived...big change!

Rice Crispies anyone?

I know you can start babies on solids antime between 4-6 months. Sophie is just over 5mths and she is still on Organic Similac all day, all night. So the other day Jake and I were talking and I mentioned that soon we should start giving her rice cereal and milk for dinner. He agreed and went about his day. The next day we were heading to get groceries and he said, "So do you want to get like Rice Crispies...will that work for Sophie?" Ok, now Jake is a very smart man. The Air Force trusts him to fly military aircraft daily. So when he said this I thought surely he's joking. Oh no he was dead serious! He said, "You said she needed to start eating rice cereal!" We laughed so hard and I assured him that I would handle the rice cereal from now on. Ha!

Our new home...

I know I usually picture things I haven't yet seen. I thought it would be a good idea to send pictures of our apartment and the base so you can see what we see everyday!

366 days in 2009!

Moving day came so fast. I had mixed emotions as most would. I was so happy for Sophie and I to be able to see her Daddy everyday, but so sad to leave my family and my home. I must say I was strong for the most part. I cried the first 30 minutes or so and had many deep sad sighs, but overall not too bad. Because we had to leave on New Years Eve, we celebrated the night before with a count down and all. For us 2009 will have 366 days:)

Sophie's 1st Christmas!

This Christmas was the best. Sophie actually had a surprise visit from Santa! She was on his nice list of course:) It was great spending Christmas at home with everyone.

Bre's wedding shower!

With all the craziness around the holidays we decided to add a wedding shower! I am so happy we did because that meant I could be apart of this big event for my lil sister. I would have been so disappointed if I couldn't have been there. My Mom set it up at at the Fountains in Minooka. We had beautiful decorations so it looked amazing! The shower was a huge success. Nice work Mama we pulled it off!

Sophie's Christening

Before I moved to Louisiana it was very important to me to have Sophie bapitized. It was great because Pastor Dave at Messiah was sweet enough to come in on a Saturday morning so we could squeeze it in while Jake was home and so the family could all be there. We chose Eric and Bre to be her Godparents and we couldn't be happier!

5 months old

Sophie is almost sitting up on her own now! She does best with some help from the couch or Mama's lap!
